It all started as a way to see me. It never meant much, it was
just something I did. A form of narcissism or maybe an attempt to prove myself
Created in connection with the topic of my BA (Hons) dissertation,
this series of images is meant to be an example of
female self-portraiture where the self becomes other to itself.
Inspired by the work of photographers such as Francesca
Woodman, Juno Calypso and Cindy Sherman, Self as Other is
an ongoing series of works.
A collection of images that are the outcome of technical experimentation
departing from digital negatives. The photographs
are produced with a mixture of 19th cameraless processes
and modern post-production.
Self as Other is questioning the paradox of self-portraiture,
where subject and object of the representation paradoxically
correspond.
